Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 October 2018 Update isn’t delivered via an MSI or MSU like with previous Windows 10 versions, it is a Windows feature since 1809. Seems nice, but installation took some time to figure out.
Sources
First we need to download the Features On Demand (FoD) ISO from MS VLC.
- SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_10_1809_64Bit_MultiLang_FOD_1_X21-91307.ISO
- SW_DVD9_NTRL_Win_10_1809_64Bit_MultiLang_FOD_2_X21-91309.ISO
Extract them to a network location (for example: \\servername\sharename\FoD_v1809)
(optional) Delete the features (files) that you don’t need.
Installation
Powershell can export all installed features, but we need DISM to install them. I’ll take AD-LDS Tools as an example.
Installing RSAT ActiveDirectory DS-LDS Tools
DISM.exe /Online /add-capability /CapabilityName:Rsat.ActiveDirectory.DS-LDS.Tools~~~~0.0.1.0 /Source:”\\servername\sharename\FoD_v1809″ /LimitAccess
Here’s my full RSAT v1809 installation script (I don’t need server features)
